Model M1 Toxic / Combustible Gas Monitor

Allows non-intrusive "one-man" sensor calibration in hazardous areas without area declassification.
Requires only a simple magnetic wand. No other special electronic devices are needed.
CSA certified for Div. 1 & 2 Groups B, C, D hazardous areas AND C22.2 No. 152 for LEL Combustible Monitors.
"END OF SENSOR LIFE" feature warns when sensors are nearing time for replacement. Offset & gain calibration values may be seen on the LCD for tracking sensor degradation with age.
Provides continuous digital readout of the engineering units monitored by the sensor.
Universal sensor head accepts "plug-in" sensor modules allowing field replacement of sensors without wiring changes.
4-20mA output sends constant 1.5mA "In Cal" signal during calibration periods.
1 minute "Power-Up" & "Post Cal" Delay Modes lock 4-20mA output at 4mA to allow sensor stabilization and prevent erroneous alarm trips.
Standard "Fault Supervision" circuitry continuously monitors for failed sensor or missing sensor. 4-20mA output transmits 0mA during Faults.
Standard M1 models include the M1/LEL for catalytic bead LEL sensors, the M1/EC for electrochemical sensors and the M1/mA for 4-20mA inputs.
Available options include isolated 4-20mA output, 5 amp form "C" HIGH - WARN - FAULT alarm contacts and RS-485 Modbus® interface.

Model M1 Non-Intrusive Gas Monitor detects combustibles, many toxics or oxygen gas concentrations and displays them in engineering units on a 3½ digit LCD readout. Sensors plug into a universal sensor head and are easy to replace. Modbus® RS-485, 3 alarm levels and isolated 4-20mA options allow the M1 to solve most application interface requirements.

Nonintrusive magnetic zero/span controls allow one-man calibration without opening the enclosure. Nonvolatile memory retains all calibration values during power loss. Any "Power On" or "CAL Exit" is followed by a 1-minute delay where the 4-20mA output is locked at 4mA to prevent false alarm trips.

Offset & gain readings are stored and may be seen on the LCD for tracking sensor degradation. As sensors age they lose sensitivity and require higher gain values. Tracking this effect provides useful data for determining when to replace the sensor. A "End of Sensor Life" feature activates as gain values exceed a threshold.

Three M1 models are available. The M1/LEL accepts catalytic bead combustible detectors and the M1/EC accepts electro-chemical sensors. The M1/mA accepts 4-20mA inputs. Each provide calibrated 4-20mA outputs. M1/LEL and M1/EC models include the universal ¾ inch N.P.T. sensor head capable of accepting all GDS Corp. sensors. The M1/mA accepts 4-20mA inputs and is commonly interfaced with "blind" monitors.

A "Unity" control resets ZERO and SPAN settings to the middle of their range. This sets offset to zero and gain to one. From unity, the zero controls have a range of + 15% and the span controls from .5-2. Diagnostic messages on the LCD indicate modes such FAULT, CAL, DELAY and ESL (end of sensor life).
